On September 28, 2020, China Audio-Video Copyright Association officially released its 2019 Annual Report. In 2019, it was a year in which the Association have worked hard in the face of challenges and adversity. We have made outstanding achievements in developing the members, establishing and standardizing licensing business teams, and collecting and distributing copyright royalties.

In 2019, the Association collected the copyright royalties for 276 million yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 44% compared with 192 million yuan in 2018. The deduction ratio of karaoke operation and management costs is 25%, hitting a record low. The number of new members increased by 28% compared with last year, reaching 247. The number of authorized music and television works reached 135,916; Licenses were granted to 6,683 karaoke establishments, all at record growth rates.

In 2019, the Association also strengthened the construction of licensing team, actively explored the market, and successively established licensing business offices directly managed in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government). In the second half of 2019, it started to use the electronic contract signing system, optimized the signing process, and realized efficient office work.

In order to realize fair and reasonable distribution to a greater extent, China Audio-Video Copyright Association actively promote the exploration and application of the copyright big data management platform. After construction, the platform was launched for a public test in some areas on August 21. The launch of the copyright big data management platform will make the use of works more transparent and the distribution of copyright usage fees more fair and reasonable, which is a concrete step to improve the collective management level of copyright in China.

The annual report also discloses the distribution of copyright royalties for 2019, the various legal matters dealt with in 2019, and the work of the Association in promoting the revision of the copyright law and give the producer of sound recording the right to broadcast and right of performance in public.
